FOTOFRIDAY~Life

Thanks Millie for the thought provoking theme this week! I really loved the analogy she posted so would like to post it here as well for my friends to see who aren't part of PP.

Maybe you have heard about the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1,600 miles in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland, Australia, it is the largest coral reef in the world.

Tour guides regularly take visitors to view the reef.

On one tour, a traveller asked the guide an interesting question.” I noticed that the lagoon side of the reef looks pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colourful," the traveller observed. "Why is this?"

The guide gave an interesting answer:” The coral around the lagoon side is in still water with no challenge for its survival. It dies early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind, waves, and storms -- surges of power. It has to fight for survival every day of its life. As it is challenged and tested, it changes and adapts. It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces."

Then he added this telling note: "That's the way it is with every living organism."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"

Some things come along at the perfect time. On pondering which photo i could use for this weeks theme my mind went to Christ and how he gave his LIFE for us so that we could have ETERNAL LIFE. Over the years I have taken lots of pictures of the Christus' in the various Visitors Centers at our church's temples. But this picture has double meaning on the word LIFE since it is our wedding pictures and the start of our LIFE together as man and wife. As I mentioned, perfect timing.....we have had big struggles in our life together this year, both spiritually and in our marriage. As Millie's analogy reminds us, it's life's storms that make us grow strong. We are thankfully refining our journey together with Christ helping us along the way.

I've wondered sometimes what was so wrong with Lucifer's plan of not having free agency. I think this is the ticket, if we weren't challeneged we wouldn't make anything of ourselves. Sometimes, as a parent, I really just want to make my children's life easy and spare them the heart ache of disappointment, regret, bad decisions, etc. But then what would they learn? What if something happened to me and I couldn't be there anymore? Then how have I prepared them to face life on their own? It must break our Father's heart watching us suffer. Anyway....thanks for the thought provoking post.
