Testimony of the Book of Mormon: Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

I have read this book, and study it along side the Bible. I do believe it to also be the word of God through the experiences, teachings, and revelations of the ancient people who left Jerusalem before it was destroyed (600 b.c.) and were lead by God to the promised land (the americas). They are part of the scattered tribes of Israel..."other sheep I have which are not of this fold" as Christ told his disciples of in John 10:16. He visited these other sheep after his resurrection just as he visited the Jews. There is record of this in the book of 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon.

I know this book to be the true word of God as well as the Bible because I have prayed about it and have felt the Holy Ghost bear witness to me of the truthfulness of these words. In the last book of the Book of Mormon, in Moroni 10 it says, "(3)Behold I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts, (4)And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. (5)And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. (6)And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is. (7)and ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost;"
